Naked in the Kitchen - Part 3

Date: March 8, 2003
Of course, I have to wash the kitchen floor again.
I started at 10AM - just before I captured Little Bit and began the race for shots.
      It is now 5PM.
I have also raced to get the CD and photos.
And decided I am a mess even if dieting - stress and weight - I am a bloody wreck!
      But the kitchen floor looms.
I don a bathing suit - because my son is in the house, and while semi-ambulatory - can make it to the kitchen.
I yell at the cat - Ranger - who has decided that he 1) needed his litter pan (which I obliged) and 2) food (which I refused to put back down).
      Ranger, undaunted, meowed and complained.
      I yelled.
My son yelled down the hall, "What's going on?" because Ranger had fled in a fit of temper and jumped on him.
I said, "I am scrubbing the kitchen floor!"
"You're not naked again, are you?" came the plaintive reply, not said with enthusiasm.
"No. I am in a bathing suit."
And in a snit. I just saw the Fabio fan club adventure photos.
      I am a wreck.
      I am sulking.
Ranger, not to be denied, went headfirst into the food bag.
I skidded across soapy water on the floor in bare feet to bellow, "NO!"
      My son laughs.
Ranger returns to his room (my son's, not the cat's, although that is debatable).
I return to scrubbing the floor on knees that wish to complain about hard surfaces.
After one or two more altercations, I am finished.
I grab a bath towel - old one - and why women should never toss old bath towels - and step on it - skating across the floor, polishing and wiping up as I go.
My sister washes her floor this way.
      For other reasons.
      Nude. Runs in the family.
It takes another towel and the dishtowels that were to be washed anyway to mop up the floor.
I have successfully removed the foam backing from an older kitchen rug that had stuck to the floor.
      My floor is white, again.
And because I do not do this every week, I have swiped at the cupboards and appliance doors as well as I crawled by.
      The cat has his food.
      Little Bit is still hiding.
